Luke 2:8-20
This Christmas time let's tell the world about Jesus in the same passion as the shepherds did
IntroductionWe are looking at the crowds that came at Christmas. And there’s a tremendous point of rejoicing that we celebrate.
The Four Ss of Christmas Night1. Suddenly (2:13)
- It’s in a human perspective, not the angels’
- For the angels, it’s a “finally”
- Finally, God is going to have His way with an out-of-control world
- Finally He is going to put an end to sin
- Finally man is going to have an answer
2. Shepherds (2:11)
- Question is why make the announcement to the shepherds?
3. Songs (2:13 angels praising God…)
- There’s a lot of singing recorded in Scripture
- At creation (Job 38:4-7)
- Victory at the throne of God (Revelation 5:8-9)
- Every time a sinner turns to Jesus (Luke 15:7,10)
4. Saviour
- Mary and Joseph knew about Baby Jesus entering the world as its Saviour and Deliverer
Our Application (Luke 2:15-18)The shepherds who saw and heard the angels went to Bethlehem, and after witnessing Jesus, went around town to declare His arrival.
We believers have been to Bethlehem too, because what has inflamed the hearts of those who heard the testimony of the shepherds has also inflamed our hearts as well.
This Christmastime, there are people who would believe the story that you would tell them, if you would tell it with the same energy and passion that the shepherds told of what has happened to them.
The responsibility given to the shepherds is now our responsibility.
