1. True Discipleship requires denial of self-
Following Lord Jesus means we have to give up pursing our own will, and just follow His will. In the end, we’ll discover that His will will bring us to our greatest potential and good.
2. The assurance of His presence (Hebrews 13:5)Following after Jesus is often difficult and demanding. Sometimes we experience persecution, trial, testing and troubles. But His word promises that He will never leave us, nor forsake us.
3. The experience of personal difficulties bring glory to God (2Cor 12:8-10)Our dependency on God means we have to endure hardships, even pain. And as we acknowledge our weakness God moves with His power, brings deliverance, and draws praise and thanks to His name.
4. We will always overcome! (2Cor 4:8-15) Although we are hard pressed while serving Jesus, even perplexed and harassed, the Lord promises that we’ll never be abandoned and forsaken. And the carrying of the “death” of Jesus makes way for His life to be manifested in our mortal bodies.
5. All for our good (Romans 8:28)“All things will work together for good” when we fix our eyes on Jesus, serve with all that we are, and spend time in His presence. Dying turns to living, pain disappears, we are made well, and Jesus is glorified.
