Psalms 93 to 100 are songs that exhort us to:
(a) Proclaim that “The Lord reigns.” God is praised as Avenger of evil, who sees all and who judges the wicked while supporting those who take refuge in Him. Psalm 95 is a call to rejoice.
(b) “Declare His glory among the nations.” We recognize this as a missionary call for us to preach the Good News of salvation daily among all the nations. This may be lived out in the lives of some believers by actually traveling to foreign lands to share the gospel; But Christ commanded every believer to take the gospel wherever he or she goes, to make disciples, to baptize them with water, and teach them all things that He has commanded (Matt.28:19–20). As we do, we have the promise of our Savior Himself: “I am with you always.”
(c) Worship God, ascribing glory to His name (Psalm 96), teaching us in the next psalm
that idols are empty, and those who worship the Lord are guarded from the wicked.
(d) Sing the song of salvation with great shouts of joy (Psalm 98). The writer saw in the triumph of Yahweh the Son of God who will come again to rule in righteousness.
Church, we are encouraged to expect with joy the coming of the Lord. Though the Second Coming will be a time of judgment, it will also be a cause for great celebration as all the earth and all the nations glory in His presence.
Yours in Christ,
